Map Description:

This map shows Census Blocks in Alabama with available internet speeds above and below the FCC definition of broadband (25/3 download/upload speeds). In addition to mapping census blocks unserved by broadband, the map also shows areas that received Federal and state-funds to deploy broadband. The black points on the map represent areas required, under the terms of the Federal Universal Service Fund or other federal grant, to provide a connection to the Internet at speeds meeting the minimum service threshold by March 28, 2023. The Red polygons represent the project areas previously or currently awarded funding under the ABAA and are not eligible for funding in most cases. Federal and State funding projects also include data on the associated Internet Service Provider.

Coverage Definition:

A Census Block has Broadband Coverage if at least one Internet Service Provider is “providing [broadband] or could …without an extraordinary commitment of resources provide broadband service to an area.”
