Thank You to Everyone Who Came to the DDAA Professional Development Seminar
The DDAA Leadership Development Seminar, held from July 16th to 17th, was a resounding success. The event, hosted by DDAA President Chris Chiles, featured comprehensive trainings on loan compliance, Human Resources practices, and unique courses focused on the operation and leadership of Local Development Districts (LDDs). Attendees benefited from insightful presentations by speakers from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and various LDDs. DDAA was also pleased to host Gayle Manchin, Federal Co-Chair of ARC as a featured speaker. Gayle’s speech laid out a hopeful vision for an economically vibrant Appalachia. The seminar also featured a keynote by Audy Perry, Executive Director of the Heritage Farm Foundation, who shared his passion for the entrepreneurial spirit of Appalachia and its people. Board Feature: Southern Tier’s Annual Local Government Training Conference
The Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board hosted its annual local government training conference at Houghton University. The conference offered an invaluable opportunity for professional growth, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas, all aimed at promoting effective governance and sustainable regional development.
The conference included a variety of sessions and activities designed to address the needs and interests of local government officials, including workshops and panel discussions covering land use planning, economic development, environmental protection, infrastructure management, and public safety. It also featured networking opportunities to help connect people facing similar challenges.
