The Development District Association of Appalachia is holding its Annual Conference in Arlington, Virginia from March 9-12, 2025. This year’s conference features several presentations from organizations across Appalachia including Local Development Districts, educational institutions, and nonprofits. The conference will offer a diverse range of sessions focused on empowering communities across Appalachia.
- “The Role of LDDs in Strengthening Childcare Support Systems” will address the critical childcare challenges facing the region, highlighting innovative partnerships and strategies that can improve childcare availability and affordability.
- “Leveraging GIS and Technology Services for Regional Development and Organizational Revenue” will explore how Local Development Districts (LDDs) can utilize GIS and technology services to enhance regional growth and diversify revenue streams.
- “Cultivating Leadership: Engaging Appalachia’s Emerging Leaders” will focus on nurturing young leaders through mentorship collaboration to inspire the next wave of progress in the region.

- “ARC Pathways: A Comprehensive Grant Management Platform for Success” will walk participants through the Appalachian Regional Commission’s (ARC) updated grants management system: Pathways, providing tips for supporting grant applicants.
- “Addressing Housing Challenges Through DDAA Programs and Initiatives” will offer practical solutions and resources from the Development District Association of Appalachia (DDAA) to help meet the region’s housing needs.
- “Advancing Regional Tourism Through Strategic DDAA Partnerships” will explore ways to capitalize on Appalachia’s unique cultural assets, providing insights into successful tourism initiatives that promote sustainable growth while preserving the region’s heritage.
